Instagram to Shut Down IGTV App, Set to Increase Investment in Reels Instagram is shutting down its IGTV app, the company has announced. The app was released in 2018, as a competitor to YouTube, offering longer vertical-format videos. Instead, Instagram will focus on keeping all video content on the main app. The company will also begin testing a new ad experience for content creators later this year.
